See What Attack on Titan Creator Hajime Isayama Had to Say About Muv-Luv Alternative by Global Anime

AbraxasDecember 21, 2021

If you haven’t had a chance to check out the Muv-Luv Alternative anime adaptation—which is currently being simulcast weekly on Crunchyroll—there’s now another way to view it. The first episode is now live on the Crunchyroll Collection YouTube channel, so everyone has a chance to see what it’s all about.

One person who definitely already knows what it’s all about is Hajime Isayama, creator of the colossal hit manga Attack on Titan. The official Muv-Luv Alternative website previously shared comments from the author, who took some time to answer questions about his experience with Muv-Luv and what makes the series so appealing.

Here’s what Isayama-sensei had to say:

Q. Can you tell us how you felt when you learned of the announcement of the anime adaptation?

I knew that one day it would be made into an anime, so I felt happy that it was finally happening and that more people would know about this work.

Q. Please tell us one of your memorable experiences when you played “Muv-Luv Alternative”.

After playing “Rumbling Hearts” and “Muv-Luv”, I played it for about 30 hours straight on the day it was released.

When I think about it now, I think the reason I was able to immerse myself in the story so much was not only for the storyline, but also for the fact that there was so much room for imagination in the novelization game.

Q. For those who are new to this work and watch it for the first time in anime, please share one thing that makes this work so appealing.

Whether it’s a comic book or a movie, the way to make a story interesting is the same. It is to push the characters to the limit.

That’s what “Muv-Luv” taught me. I hope you will enjoy the extreme stress and the extreme sense of freedom.

You can check out episode 1 on YouTube below.

And then you can continue the Muv-Luv Alternative journey on Crunchyroll, with new episodes airing on Wednesdays at 9:25am Pacific Time! Here’s the official synopsis:

A story of the bonds between those who fight, in a world pushed to its limits. On one of the countless parallel worlds that exist throughout spacetime, humanity has fought a decades long war against the BETA, hostile extraterrestrial invaders, using humanoid fighting machines called Tactical Surface Fighters. This is a story of how humanity lives and dies while on the brink of extinction…
