Crystal Dynamics reveals new details on Marvel’s Avenger’s Spider-Man, including a release date and some vague information on Peter Parker’s story.

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics finally announce more information on Spider-Man‘s arrival in Marvel’s Avengers.

Announced via a blog post, Peter Parker will be added to the game as a part of the next major content patch on Nov. 30. Spider-Man will arrive alongside the Klaw Raid in a Hero Event titled, “With Great Power.” While the character’s design and mechanics have yet to be disclosed, Crystal Dynamics did reveal more on what players can expect from the character. “The legendary web-slinger Spider-Man will come exclusively to PlayStation players in the November 30th update along with the Spider-Man: With Great Power Hero Event. Spider-Man’s high-flying acrobatics bring an entirely new way to experience the game either solo or with friends, and his unique movement and combat abilities are sure to be a great addition to any Strike Team taking on missions in the Avengers Initiative,” reads the official announcement.

As for how Spider-Man will be introduced to the other characters, Crystal Dynamics writes, “Players will experience Spider-Man’s story through unlockable challenges woven throughout the Avengers Initiative. Peter Parker learns of a deadly new threat and must partner with the Avengers to stop AIM from acquiring technology that could make their synthoid army unstoppable. Insistent on keeping his identity hidden, Parker forms a tentative friendship with Ms. Marvel and Black Widow and must struggle with the new dynamics of working with a team. Will he join up full time with the Avengers, or stay independent in his fight against AIM?”

Beyond these descriptions, we know precious little else about Marvel’s Avengers‘ take on Spider-Man. Given the looming release date, it’s likely that a trailer and possibly a suit reveal will take place in the near future.

Beyond Spidey’s introduction, fans of Marvel’s Avengers can look forward to the game’s most challenging mission yet: The Klaw Raid. Players will need “teamwork, communication [and] tactics” if they want to repel Klaw’s last-ditch attempt at destroying Wakanda for good. Successfully completing the raid will see the sonic villain defeated once and for all, netting triumphant Avengers the highest-end gear in the game.

While the next content update sounds like a significant patch, Marvel’s Avengers has recently been embroiled in controversy. Following its addition to Xbox Game Pass, Crystal Dynamic’s inclusion of paid XP boosts caused an uproar within the community. So enraged was the playerbase that the developer was forced to remove the items from the in-game store entirely.
