Runbow studio 13AM Games announced last year that they’d be teaming up with WayForward (Shantae, River City Girls) for kaiju brawler Dawn of the Monsters. A new trailer hit the Internet today, showing off some the game’s massive monsters — both the ones you’ll be fighting and the ones you’ll be controlling.
Dawn of the Monsters is described as a “couch co-op, brawling action game that takes up to four players on a worldwide tour of destruction.” Players will combat monsters known as Nephilim with a gargantuan panoply of newly-designed kaiju. And these big monsters come from excellent stock. Shinji Nishikawa, designer of dozens of monsters including Biollante and King Ghidorah, has teamed up with Godzilla comic book artist Matt Frank to bring the new beasts to life.
So far, we have the names of four: Megadon, Ganira, Aegis Prime, and Tempest Galahad. Each will be customizable and have their own impressive attacks and finishers.
And here they are in action:
So far we know that the game will consist of 35 missions, sport 2.5D graphics, and — best of all — have “fully destructible environments.”
Dawn of the Monsters is on course for an early 2022 release, and will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, and Steam for PC.
