The Wheel of Time Counts Down to Release With New Images

AbraxasOctober 7, 2021

Three new images from Amazon’s The Wheel of Time have been revealed, showing Moiraine, Lan, Rand and Egwene in quiet moments between the action.

With six weeks left to go until The Wheel of Time premieres on Amazon Prime Video, three new images have been revealed, showing how some characters find moments of peace amid the dire conflict.

The photos were posted exclusively on the official Prime Video Twitter account, which introduced them with some fandom slang: “This is a @TheWheelOfTime stan account now.” The caption continues, “Check out these exclusive new images and join us in counting down the days until November 19.”

The first of the three pictures shows Rosamund Pike as Moiraine, the Aes Sedai who arrives in the Two Rivers as a stranger to the villagers who live there. She wears a calm expression, and the background shows the village in the bright daylight, preparing for the festival of Bel Tine.

Moiraine’s Warder Lan, played by Daniel Henney, is featured in the second image. Although he has his sword drawn, it’s in a resting pose rather than held to strike, and like Moiraine, he appears to be at ease. In response to the image, some fans pointed out that his blade is inscribed with a mysterious script, immediately prompting others to try to translate the letters.

Finally, Josha Stradowski’s Rand and Madeleine Madden’s Egwene are pictured together, sharing a tender embrace while dismounted from their horses. The two characters begin the story in a relationship with each other, although it will surely be tested by the hardships they face along the way.

In response to the tweet from Prime Video, the official Twitter for The Wheel of Time quipped, “Hard not to be a stan account with a cast like that,” extending the praise to the animal actors in the images as well as the humans: “Even the horses make us feel ugly.”

The Wheel of Time, which is based on the bestselling fantasy novels from author Robert Jordan, has been in development at Amazon since 2018. The show’s cast and showrunner Rafe Judkins will be on NYCC’s main stage on Friday, October 8 at 2:30 p.m. EDT, to discuss what it was like to bring the series to life, as well as what fans can expect when The Wheel of Time finally reaches the screen.

The Wheel of Time, starring stan-worthy people and horses, premieres Nov. 19 on Amazon Prime Video.
